Wild & Scenic Rainforest Nature Walk

Great experience kayaking through the rainforest. You will kayak to the bay where the algae will turn the water blue as you splash it. The total miles is about 2 1/2 there and back.

I stayed in Savannah’s Escape air bnb and it was really close to El Yunque. It was beautiful. I had a blast with the family. If you stay at the Savannah’s Escape in Fajardo please visit El Yunque it is by far the best rainforest I’ve been to

I'm not sure I can properly put into words how incredible this was as an adventure! Despite being delayed a tad due to a nasty rainstorm, Angel and his crew kept us all on track and we still managed to get everyone loaded and on our way!Angel Manny, Eric and Jorge were so attentive to everyone and took great care to ensure that we were all educated on the proper use of the kayak, the importance of the lights, etc. That turned out to be imperative as we entered the mangroves as we all learned very quickly that the other companies clearly do not place such an emphasis on safety!Seriously - it was pitch black outside and several other tours had literally NO lights on their kayaks, and had no idea how to safely pass by on the side - causing a few scuffles here and there as they were all over the place!Once into the lagoon, Angel gave us such an education on the history of the bay, the lagoon, the bioluminescence itself, Puerto Rico and the rainforest - it was incredible! Having never seen the bioluminescence before, I have nothing to judge the "intensity" from - but was still blown away by what we experienced. It was like little fireflies under the water - one of the coolest things I've ever experienced!From beginning to end - this was a top notch tour. Cannot recommend enough!

They have hotel pickup and drop off. The staff was fantastic and gave us first-time kayakers a lot of helpful information. They had a lot of information about the rainforests and wildlife. When we got to the lake, the sky was breathtaking. The lake itself was still recovering and was not that active but it was still a great tour. Thanks guys! For any first timers, you can't bring anything with you. They ask that you put all belongings in their locked truck, including cameras and phones.

We did the full moon tour from 8-11pm. The Enchanted Island Eco Tour trip started right out by disclaiming that the lagoon is in a state of recovery from damage done in 2015. They emphasized the trip to be a learning experience as well as sight-seeing tour. I appreciated their honesty and it made me excited to see the lagoon despite the possibility of seeing no bioluminescence. The intro before getting into the kayaks was thorough and made it so that people of any skill level could kayak and be safe as possible. Their humor and knowledge made the group comfortable and ready for the adventure.There were 2 guides to help us get ready and then 4 guides in the water with us. They were the most thorough and organized of any guides there...and there were many groups there. Once in the water, I was amazed at the lead guide's ability to navigate the mangroves in almost complete darkness! It was obvious he had done it many many times and knew the grove intimately. I felt completely safe even when the other obviously less organized groups came thru in the opposite direction - some of the kayaks didn't even have lights on them, which we were told isn't even legal! We also saw some motor boats which really detracted from the feel of the lagoon and diminished its specialness, both with their noise and the scent of exhaust (even though they are supposed to switch to electric motor once in the lagoon).When we reached the lagoon, the guides helped us to see what bioluminescence there was in the shadows of the mangroves since it was a full moon which makes visibility of the bioluminescence difficult. Once in the middle, we created a raft and the head guide told us a bit about the history of Puerto Rico, the El Yunque Rainforest, the lagoon and how the biodiversity and bioluminescence work, and it was clear to see he was passionate about his home, his job, the health of the environment, and about sharing that information with us. It is a challenge everywhere to balance what is best for the environment and still serve your customers, but I feel that this company went above and beyond, and I would strongly recommend them to anyone visiting the area!

The bioluminescence were beautiful and the staff very knowledgable and approachable. It was very peaceful and humbling experience. I would definitely recommend going in the earlier group. I regret not being able to actually see the channel we kayaked through, I imagine it was breathtaking. Instead, we were just bumping off of trees blindly in the channel, getting whacked by branches. Also, my boyfriend and I were not good at kayaking together, to the point that the kayaking part was getting in the way of enjoying the excursion. The lead kayaker blessedly hooked us up to the back of us kayak and towed us, which was absolutely wonderful. He gave us a stream of information and conversation the entire night, pointing out things we would have otherwise missed. Don't leave Puerto Rico without seeing the bioluminescence, either in this tour or their twilight hike through the rainforest.

We booked the nighttime rainforest tour from our cruise ship in January 2016 with Enchanted Island Eco Tours. Total disappointment and twice the price of what a day tour would have been. We departed around 2:00, and our guide (John?) put both of my kids to sleep with his "informational" speech which was at times incoherent and jumped around with no rhyme or reason. We were expecting a hike as advertised, but it was a very easy, very short walk to a natural river swimming hole. We saw no wildlife on the walk and the water was freezing. Following a brief swim, we waited, and waited, and waited some more for dusk to finally arrive. When it did, we were given lights that we had to be very careful to keep on the "red" setting so as not to disturb the forest. That would have been fine, but the lights also had white and flashing white settings, and people inadvertently switched among the three. On the walk back, we were to shine our lights on trees to look for frogs. Found numerous frogs, but no other wildlife was visible, nor could we hear unusual sounds of the forest as promised. Saw half a dozen very minor instances of bioluminescence, but after the first couple it became very boring. Could not get back to the ship soon enough. Even my nature-loving kids declared this to be the most disappointing excursion they had ever been on. I had to agree.

If you are looking for an excellent tour that provides friendly service and a memorable experience that will last a lifetime then this is the tour for you! Our tour guide Katiana was wonderful! She knew everything there was to know about the rainforest, she took us to all the neat trails, and she didn't rush us. We were able to fully explore the areas and enjoy the beauty of the rainforest. I also loved this tour because it provided transportation to and from our hotel. I plan on returning to Puerto Rico in the future and I will be using the Enchanted Island Eco Tours!

I booked two different tours (Rainforest Hike - El Yunque and Biolumineisence Kayaking) and they were both cancelled due to not enough participants. We were totally bummed out because we spoke to others at our hotel who booked with another company and they had more people on their tour than they needed. We missed out because by the time they cancelled - we couldn't book with another company. The only reason I gave them 2 stars was because they did communicate with me and refund my money. I wish they had told me earlier they were going to cancel because I could have made other plans. When you find out at 8 pm the night before an 8 am pickup the next day - there's not much you can do. :(
