What to bring & what to leave behind?

Please bring - Lightweight clothing and a change of dry clothes for the ride back to the hotel, as it is a rainforest and it could rain during the tour. Towels as needed to dry off once back from the tour, lightweight hiking shoes, hiking boots, sandals or strap-on water shoes which work great at the rocky entry into the natural pool, swim suits under your nature walk clothing. Waterproof cameras, cameras (EYT will not be responsible for the equipment you bring) Please leave behind (the following are only suggestions!): Digital cameras or video if not waterproof, it does rain regularly, paper documentation important to your vacation, passports, boarding passes, birth certificates or any others that you do not want to get wet large sums of money, expensive or important jewelry, anything that is looped, loose or dangling, anything that you would not want to lose or leave behind in a rental car or aboard the tour bus.

What if the weather forecast is bad?

EYT monitors weather conditions daily, safety is always first. We follow NOAA, Wunderground, and Weather.com., if any of the two forecast are 50% or higher threat for rain, winds exceeding 18 knots or potential for thunderstorms, we will cancel the tour for that day. One of our representatives will contact you via email, text or phone to advise of cancellation and offer to reschedule if possible. If you are unable to reschedule or the weather does not improve during your stay, we will refund your booking cost.

Transportation notes

Transportation is not included on this tour, we strongly recommend to arrange for a rental car, your conformation will have a Google Map link that will bring you directly to the tour site. At this time the access for our tour is only by private or rental car. Taxis can only go in the forest if they have a forest permit and they can only access during the park operational hour (during the day). Taxis are not permitted after 6:00pm. Uber is not permitted in the forest at anytime. We can help with transportation arrangements for groups of 10 or more, via legally permitted touristic transportation.

Approximate itinerary

5:00 p.m. – Meeting time at Angelito Trail 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. – Group safety & pre-walk orientation, equipment dispersal (backpacks, towels, snacks, and water) 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.– Tour duration – Walkthrough Angelito Trail with guides, interpretation of natural areas, flora, fauna, history. Break at a Las Damas Pool to enjoy snacks and swimming, weather permitting, return to the trail entrance. Gather at the tour site, for closing comments, return of backpacks, lights and towels 7:45 p.m. – Activity completion.

Approximately 3 hours in full duration, 45 minutes for guest checkin, pre-trail safety briefing, equipment dispersal, group and guide photo. 2 hours on trail time, 15 minutes for closing comments, returning of all equipment, tour completion.

It was a very late evening Bio Bay tour. Do appreciate tour company being upfront about likely no sight of bio luminescence, for that reason a late night kayak is not something I would do! I would want to do the same kayak in day light or twilights to experience the landscape and beauty of the body of the water. Not the best experience for me for why I wanted to do at first place.

I stayed in Savannah’s Escape air bnb and it was really close to El Yunque. It was beautiful. I had a blast with the family. If you stay at the Savannah’s Escape in Fajardo please visit El Yunque it is by far the best rainforest I’ve been to

I was extremely impressed by the gorgeous flora, specially those gorgeous orchids. The fauna was great too. I love birds and there are plenty of them here with the most colorfull plumage!

The bioluminescence were beautiful and the staff very knowledgable and approachable. It was very peaceful and humbling experience. I would definitely recommend going in the earlier group. I regret not...

The bioluminescence were beautiful and the staff very knowledgable and approachable. It was very peaceful and humbling experience. I would definitely recommend going in the earlier group. I regret not being able to actually see the channel we kayaked through, I imagine it was breathtaking. Instead, we were just bumping off of trees blindly in the channel, getting whacked by branches. Also, my boyfriend and I were not good at kayaking together, to the point that the kayaking part was getting in the way of enjoying the excursion. The lead kayaker blessedly hooked us up to the back of us kayak and towed us, which was absolutely wonderful. He gave us a stream of information and conversation the entire night, pointing out things we would have otherwise missed. Don't leave Puerto Rico without seeing the bioluminescence, either in this tour or their twilight hike through the rainforest.

Paddling through a shallow channel in the twilight just as the bioluminescence was starting to appear was downright magical. Michael, the owner, was attentive and safety-conscious. He set the tone for his guides, who were also professional and on-point. Even when a shrimp jumped into my shorts to come along for the ride it only added to the experience. I would do this again; hopefully minus the stowaway.

We took the Rainforest Nature Walk and were totally amazed at Mike's knowledge and passion for the forest. We went in late afternoon and exited just at twilight - he was right we were totally amazed at how the forest came to life as dark set in. Our senses were tuned to our ears instead of our eyes as he suggested they would be. No need to worry about Mosquitos on this trip - there simply aren't any! Safety and the environment are 2 priorities Mike and his team are key on so no worries there either. Next time we want to do his "triple play" if time permits.

Kayak is always awesome but add twilight and the Bioluminescent Bay and it truly becomes an experience. Great knowledge guides. Loved every minute even though my wife critiqued my steering capabilities the entire time.
