Below you will find a calendar for each month of the year, by looking at the dates that you are planning to visit Puerto Rico you will be able to find what moon phase is going to be present during your visit.
We offer two Night Kayaking Adventures the Bioluminescent Lagoon Kayak Adventure which is offered Monday through Saturday from the New Moon to Half Full cycle. These nights are the darkest nights and offer the best conditions for viewing Pyrodinium Bahamense a species of Dinoflagellate or what is better known as the bioluminescent organism! Our second-night kayak adventure if offered Monday through Saturday from Half to Third Day Full as these nights hold the brightest light reflection to the area and the surface of the waters.
Full Moon Eco Kayak Adventure: This kayak tour was developed as an alternative to the Bioluminescent Lagoon Kayak Adventure as during the full moon cycle the reflection of the moonlight on the surface of the lagoon makes it difficult to see the organism. But that same moonlight exposes mangrove forests, eight ecosystems, bird life, the second oldest lighthouse in Puerto Rico, iguanas and much more of natures secrets that are normally overlooked on the darkest nights!
So whatever the moon cycle, we can offer you an unforgettable experience into one of Puerto Rico’s most delicate ecosystem, Laguna Grande!
